Jon Carnac

Jon studied at The Royal College of Music with Colin Bradbury, John McCaw and Robert Hill.  He has played principal clarinet with all of London’s major Symphony Orchestras, and has travelled the world and recorded with Conductors including Sir Georg Solti, Bernard Haitink and Sir Simon Rattle.  As soloist and chamber musician, he has performed at The Wigmore Hall, QEH, Purcell Room and 10 Downing Street.

Jon’s playing has been featured on over 100 Film Soundtracks including scores by John Williams, James Horner, Hans Zimmer and Jerry Goldsmith.  He has also appeared on albums with Sting, Peter Gabriel, Mark Knopfler, Gregory Porter, Robbie Williams and Stevie Wonder.  In 2021 Jon gave the world première , with the CBSO, of Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Clarinet Concertino, which was dedicated to him as part of the composer’s 60th Birthday celebrations.
