Ricky Gore

Ricky Gore was born in Kagoshima, Japan, and moved to the UK at the age of 14 to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School. He furthered his studies in London, at Royal College of Music, and at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and in Germany at Hochschule fur Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover. 

As a member of the Marmen Quartet between 2013 - 2021, he won the 1st prize at the Banff, and Grand Prix at the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competitions. With the Quartet, he has performed at BBC Proms, Aldeburgh Festival, Lucerne Festival, Lockenhaus Festival, and Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and appeared at venues such as Musikgebouw in Amsterdam, Boulez Saal in Berlin, Barcelona Auditori and Wigmore Hall. Performances for radio broadcast with the Quartet include BBC Radio 3, Deutschlandfunk Kultur, NDR, SWR and CBC Radio, Canada.

As a freelance orchestral musician, he regularly plays with the London Philharmonic, London Symphony and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras, and has appeared as guest principal with Manchester Camerata and Royal Northern Sinfonia.
