Violist Hannah Shaw is a member of the Eusebius Quartet (www.eusebiusquartet.com), whose “convincing and stylish” (Gramophone) debut CD featuring the chamber music of Erich Wolfgang Korngold with pianist Alasdair Beatson was named BBC Music Magazine’s Recording of the Month in January 2022.  A dedicated chamber musician, Hannah’s recent festival appearances include such festivals as Open Chamber Music at Prussia Cove, Tetbury Festival, Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival, and Festival de Musique de Chambre à Giverny; and she teaches at the International Chamber Music Academy of Southern Germany in Ochsenhausen, Baden-Wuerttemberg.

As a Baroque violist, Hannah performs with Arcangelo, the Irish Baroque Orchestra, and Anima Eterna Brugge. At the opposite end of the temporal spectrum, she regularly enjoys performing very new music with such ensembles as the Amsterdam-based Asko|Schönberg Ensemble, and has worked with composers and conductors including Reinbert de Leeuw, Kaija Saariaho, Caroline Shaw, Huang Ruo, Peter Eötvös, Heinz Holliger, Louis Andriessen, Sofia Gubaidulina, and Elliott Carter.

Hannah has also appeared as guest principal viola with a number of orchestras, including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, London Mozart Players, O/Modernt, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, The Hague Philharmonic, and Arnhem Philharmonic. A native of South Carolina, USA, Hannah received her Bachelor of Music degree with honours from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School. She plays a viola made in 2005 by Stefan-Peter Greiner, generously provided for her use by the Greiner family.
